Sword Fighting International

Nick Payne is the founder of Sword Fighting International and has been fencing since he was 10 years old. He has been British and Australian number 1 in Men's Foil Fencing. He was reserve for the Barcelona Olympics, England Captain numerous times, bronze medallist in the 2002 Commonwealth Championships and Victorian State Open Champion in 2005.

Nick has worked in a corporate environment for over 10 years in Business Information, Anti-Money Laundering and most recently Risk Management. He studied French and Business Studies at London University and now lives in Melbourne. His international business experience covers work in New York, Paris and Frankfurt and understands that companies need to be focused and have precise goals as well as employees with fit and healthy minds and bodies.

Nick will design a taliored group fencing experience session to your requirements. These can be purely for fun or can offer the following outcomes:

Team Building & motivation - Can be purely for fun, or to energise team members and create a memorable event that will re-envigorate the companies goals.

Change management - For some leaders, adapting to change comes easily. For these people it can be difficult to understand why others, including their direct reports, cannot adapt in the same way. Although many people have seen fencing in the Olympics, few have tried it. This creates a level playing field where all participants have to adapt to something new. Post activity analysis can help managers understand what their teams might be going through when change is enforced upon them, and how well they deal with their reactions.

Retention of Gen Y - Understanding of what motivates 18-27 years olds is not always easy. A job for life is something few will experience, or even desire. They want it all, and now. Good jobs, good working environment, other benefits than just a salary. An employer that can offer activities than are fun, new and challenging will help retain this group whose average job lifespan expectancy is seldom more than 3 years.

Sales Training - Key sales concepts such as focussing on the targets, understanding your competition and leadership leader mentoring. Swordfighting can be used as a tool to tease out issues and address specific topics.

Experiential learning - People learn better by experiencing something than by just being told about it - your companies message can be engrained more effectively, yet subtly when entwined with our swordfighting experience.

Work/life balance - In our hectic lives, this is something difficult to achieve. The multi-faceted aspect of fencing provides an activity that stimulates "thinking" as well as "doing". The high levels of concentration required in fencing ensures total immersion in the activity, giving a welcome relief to the day to day stresses and concerns.
